BLOOMING WATERS
Über das Motiv
A sprawling pond surface comes alive in an expressionist dance of color — lilac and turquoise reflections of water intertwine with the juicy green of lotus leaves, on which awakened flowers in shades of salmon, pink, and creamy white proudly rest. The composition unfolds freely, as if caught in a fleeting summer midday moment, with softly laid patches of paint creating a vibrating, almost musical rhythm. The warm pink-orange flower cups glow against the cool blues of the water, creating tension full of harmony. It's a painting full of air and light, close to the impressionist sensitivity to the fleetingness of the moment.
